How To Come Up With Creative Halloween Decorations

by Phil Sikes

Families can use Halloween as a time to come together and have some great fun. Children especially will love to participate in all things Halloween. You can change your quiet, tranquil home into a haunted house filled with scary Halloween related sights and sounds. Dressing the whole family up in fun or frightening costumes will thrill the kids too.

The fun starts each year as Halloween approaches when the family gets together to open all your boxes of decorations that have been stored away from last year. Hairy spiders and their sticky webs, flying witches on broomsticks, vampire teeth, ghosts, ghouls, and all the other great Halloween details are sure to delight children.

Even though most decorations are designed to scare children, the actual decoration process is usually quite a blast for kids who get involved.

Every individual and family has their own unique way of celebrating Halloween. If they are just uninterested or too busy, they might not celebrate the holiday at all. Others choose to take a simple approach to their festivities, using nothing more than a lonely Jack-o-Lantern to decorate their home.

Others like to put in an all-out effort in their front yard, with subdued and changing lighting, lightning flashes, cemetery tombstones, zombies, ghosts, vampires, bats, spider webs and even fog machines and sound effects. It’s quite a wacky idea when you think about it, but all good fun. Yet other people concentrate on a Halloween decoration for their front door entry way, to offer a spooky welcome to trick or treaters.

It can be well worth loading up the family and friends in your car at dusk and driving around your neighborhood in the days leading up to Halloween, just to see and enjoy the amazing effort some people will put in to participate and share in the celebration.

As kids notice which homes are most extensively decorated, their minds are sure to turn to trick-or-treating. They will be working hard to figure out what costume they will wear and which houses are most likely to give out the best candy.

Some neighbors might really go all out, decorating the insides of their homes and inviting people in to take a tour their haunted house. Often the proceeds for such tours goes to charity, so finding a place such as this in your neighborhood could be another source of Halloween fun.
